InterMune, Inc. (InterMune) is a biotech company focused on developing and commercializing therapies in pulmonology and hepatology. As of December 31, 2008, the Company's development programs included pirfenidone for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and the hepatitis C virus (HCV) protease inhibitor program. In October 2006, the Company entered into an agreement with Hoffmann-LaRoche Inc. and F. Hoffmann-LaRoche Ltd. (Roche) to develop and commercialize products from its chronic HCV protease inhibitor program, including its lead candidate compound ITMN-191. Effective March 2007, the Company discontinued development of Actimmune for IPF.
