Franklin Resources, Inc. is an investment management company. The Company is a holding company for various subsidiaries that, together with the Company, are referred to as Franklin Templeton Investments, a global investment management organization offering investment choices under the Franklin, Templeton, Mutual Series, Bissett, Fiduciary and Darby brand names. In its primary investment management business and operating segment, it provides investment management and other related services to open-end and closed-end investment companies and funds, unregistered funds, and other private, institutional, high-net-worth and separately-managed accounts in the United States and internationally. In its secondary business and operating segment, banking/finance, it provides clients with select retail banking, private banking and consumer lending services through its bank subsidiaries. In February 2008, the Company acquired a 49% interest in Vietcombank Fund Management.
