Lincare Holdings Inc. (Lincare) is a provider of oxygen and other respiratory therapy services to patients in the home. Lincare's customers suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), such as emphysema, chronic bronchitis or asthma, and require supplemental oxygen or other respiratory therapy services in order to alleviate the symptoms and discomfort of respiratory dysfunction. Lincare primarily provides oxygen and other respiratory therapy services to patients in the home. It also provides a variety of durable medical equipment (DME) and home infusion therapies in certain geographic markets. When a physician, hospital discharge planner, or other source refers a patient to one of its operating centers, its customer representative obtains the necessary medical and insurance coverage information, assignment of benefits to Lincare, and coordinates the delivery of patient care.
